INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Your post made me chuckle because I do the same thing. If I have to come downstairs in the middle of the night to let the dogs out, I spend my time waiting for them by checking the posts. I'm sure we're not the only two, too!

I'll never admit that I do the exact same thing

I was flipping through my phone last night, and came across some pictures I took at the Cher concert in Indianapolis, recently. If any of you went to the event, you'll likely agree it was a great concert. Her many outfit changes are a fun part of the show.
I snapped this pic of the singer, Cher, in a headdress, as she was walking away. Looks a lot like the recent pic of our sizzle, Cher, don't you think?

Its a very good thought I am really looking at it too. I hate having cash on me. PayPal is very safe and makes things right. Been on eBay for at least 11 years and have had 2 problems, both fixed and FAST. I would like to find a secure method of payment that I can receive from my phone or laptop for sales. Anything PayPal based IMO is secure, be very careful on any "new" options. Identity theft hurts. BBB is a good source to check, and consumer reports if both are still free, UGH. Attorney generals office also offers a search for consumer issues. Hope this helps!

:lau Thats too funny! Hope your lovely hen gets a lot of extra treats, she sure earned it!

Hartz is awful and seargents. fleas have become resistant to many of the prescription meds too.
We had to upgrade to the "plus" or II to keep our lil pug protected.
She gets hotspots and is terribly allergic to fleas and mosquito bites.

:thumbsup Do tell!!!!!

Oh she will. Trust me my younger AMs are spoiled brats. One day I ran out of all flock, which is all they have are since they were like 9 weeks old. So I thought I have some craked corn on Hand I will jut feed that until I get to the feed mill or the farm store. They wouldn't eat it.

Ok, so I'm not crazy. I saw the Aracaunas, which was cool, and some Ameracaunas that looked genuine, but many really just looked like the various combos one sees in EEs. Presumably the person showing them simply tells the fair what the breed is, and nobody checks, yes? It seems a shame that there isn't some kind of 'accuracy check' in place. Although I guess that happens during judging.

We were at the poultry barn Wednesday mid-afternoon, and there were still a lot of empty cages (had to check in by Tuesday night, right?). So definitely lots of scratches. The LF judging appeared to have happened already, as there were Champion and Reserve Ch. for each category (American, Asian, Mediterranean, English, Continental, am I missing any?) all grouped together at the center of the Hall, but it looked like the bantam judging was ongoing. I found the LF champions quite impressive, although I know essentially nothing about breed standards/conformation. But they were big and pretty. The bantams were adorable, including some nice silkies (although I remain impressed by the silkies bradselig brought to Chickenfest, especially the partridge one). There were fewer Polish entered than I thought there would be (I figured the unusual look would appeal to 4Hers). Anyway, that's the run down of the chickens from my inexpert viewpoint.

Now back to sleep... (what does it say about me that when I wake up in the middle of the night I check my threads on BYC?) :idunno

No one even looks at your chickens when you sign in. You just have to have your NPIP testing paper. They say any sik looking birds or birds with external parasites will be asked to leave. Don't know how they enforce that if they don't even look at them. Maybe they do after they close barn, but that is too long, too late in my opinion.

Yes check in ended on Tuesday.

I know you are missing AOB (all other breed), most shoes have is AOSB (all other standard breed), but state fair doesn't. I think you got all the classes besides that one. I don't know if commercial is a class or not lol, I only show exhibition birds.

I scratched a buff laced polish. Her crest was messed up. Mostly because she dunks her head in the water all the time! After I got polish the first time. I said I would never get them again. Then when I was at Lebanon and bought one. Now I remember why I said I wouldn't buy anymore. But my mom loves her. And I think tolbunt look cool so now I find myself wanting to add more of them lol.

I think there is more competition in bantams.

BTW I feel like I can't sleep if I am not caught up on BYC lol

Thanks for posting!

oh my :love

The real stuff comes first! hope your workload pays off well, take care of you too!

I am in Richmond a lot! Please post when you can.

Great post also! Keep the coming guys! :thumbsup

I use ivermectin currently, and plan to alternate with Valbazen, both are a pour on dewormer and can be used for all of the livestock and poultry I keep. I have also used the water additive but have to look it up, forget the name. It was more specific and didn't cover broad spectrum.

I've used Wazine for the girls, can u use that on goats too???

I got behind in last couple days but wanted t share these pics. Lol Pickles is definitely settling in well...wouldn't u say? Lol

I bright her in t chk her feet. She's all healed up!!! Yay!

I am so far behind on posts! DD and I went to the fair yesterday for a few hours- proudly wore our shirts but did not see anyone else!

The kids and I are getting ready to leave for 2 1/2 weeks. I am so sad to leave my babies for that long. The good news is my Hubby does not have to have surgery - actually a cannot. He is an amputee and the surgery would compromise his stump. But he has a long recovery at least 6-8 months. So That leaves me to take my son to camp in NY b/c it is too painful for him to travel. With hubby unable to go back to his bus driving job, it is too expensive to take my son drive home and go back and get him 2 weeks later so we are staying with friends and family while he is at camp. I just hope the babes remember me! It kills me to be away from them that long! But it will be good for them to bond more with my hubby.

Some pics to share.

Cordelia - the leader of the rebellion she is thinking- "I will perch and sleep on the top of the umbrella b/c it is the highest place in the run!". The two other "Littles" were trying to join her (the big girls could never make it up there!), they have made it up there before but Cordelia has perfected the act of getting at the highest point without sliding down the umbrella.

So then I closed the umbrella so "The Littles" decided to perch on me instead b/c at that point I was the highest point in the run! After being quarantined in the house with me for a week - Rapunzel the Buff Orp thinks I am a chicken - while on my shoulder she was preening my hair! Sven is the roo - he is the youngest but already doing his job, standing up to the big girls and helping "The Littles" get integrated better.

Okay, I gotta run and pack - but I had to share!
