INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Well one of the 6 ducklings only has one eye. The other eye may be there but it is sealed shut and looks a little swollen. It can move around good and looks healthy otherwise. Anyone have any experience with this issue? Or have suggestions of things I should do to help?

what cuties! I'm so sorry the one is having the eye issue. You're right though I can't see it in the pic. I have only experienced matted eyes after hatch and if it's just that you should be able to soak it some what with a warm washcloth or wipe at it with warm cotton balls to see if that allows it to open.
Big hugs for you and the wee one!

I have started scooping my oegbs and the little sebrights up too, they all are looking uncomfortable and ruffly. The little girls are spending a lot more time on my lap if i sit down, snuggling. They want to be in the big birds coop so badly! They have their own winter coop I can confine them to and keep them warm. If I do keep my quail going thru the winter, they will be going in there also.
I second that! I have a lovely rooster from racin who originated from ellymayryans. His color and type is just perfect IMO. The personality is excellent, very sweet to his girls, and nice to me too. My girls are from Trey in Corydon, they are just as sweet and gorgeous.
My Birchen are from Treys line. Clean legged, and a nice silver birchen color, no red/orange bleeding through.  I love the dark eggs, and I really appreciate a beautiful bird.

Thanks to you both for the nice compliments! I do think I was very lucky to start my flock of Marans from such a good line.

My latest project of Golden Cuckoo Marans. Working on egg color and shank feathering. I hatched a roo early this spring and he's just beautiful! I'll be breeding him back to his mom this coming spring. Sexing can be done at hatch.

These pics are of the Golden Cuckoo Marans roo.
