INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

My best Christmas present this year is ......... a new stove. And why you might be wondering do I need a new stove? well a $5 part stopped working and there was no indication that the part was broke. The cleaning thermometer broke on my oven. When cleaning the oven, the oven got way to hot since the thermometer did not register the final temp being reached. The oven got nice and clean but way too hot. The higher temperature expanded the metal oven lining. Once cool, the expanded lining did shrink, but not to its original shape, causing the oven racks to be loose and sometimes fall. An oven liner is a part that costs too much to fix so the oven company does not even service them. So new stove to me. All because of a cheap thermometer. Here is the new stove soon to be delivered.

Yeah for you!! ;) oh happy day!

I was talking to the person giving me some physical therapy about her refrigerator. It was a nice three door LG that had everything but a tv and kitchen sink; Really nice and she loved it until a part went bad. No problem just call the repair man. Fridge fixed under warranty everything was fine for about six weeks and the fridge quit again. Call repairman he comes out said it is the same part that he had replaced. So ok fix it. Well okay but no parts in the US it would have to come from Germany. Well how long will that be. Approximately 3 months. That's all okay because IT STILL IS UNDER WARRANTY, What ever happened to the appliances our parents bought that lasted 20 years???

Hi guys :) I'm near Bloomington and looking to rehome some spare cockerels and a roo - anyone interested?

7 weeks old, Silkie/Polish mixes, absolutely beautiful birds.

7 weeks old, Cochin/Americauna/RIR mix, momma lays green eggs. I'd guess he might feather out to be birchen like his dad. His dad is gorgeous.

Little less than a year old purebred Polish rooster, absolutely beautiful and unique chocolate/bronze coloring. Hate to sell him but I've got too many roos.

Asking $5/bird just to ensure good homes, discount if you take more than one :) PM me if interested. Thanks!
I just love that Polish. What kind of temperment does he have. I had a white hat one, but he wasn't very nice.

Our close friends had a similar issue with their new oven/stove (actually 3 since they replaced it twice), so we actually spent $ to fix up our 21 yr old "Magic Chef" rather than buy a new one. Our old Magic Chef oven/stove came with the house, so it could actually be older. The trick is to get one with few computer controlled devices. The electronics are wonderful until they break. The simple mechanical machines last longer. DH teases me & says I'll end up like our neighbor.

Our 93 yr old neighbor takes the prize with her fridge. It's from the early 1960s! Definitely NOT energy efficient, but she refuses to buy a new one since hers "still works." I think it will end up in a museum. It has a pedal to step on to open it, and the freezer must be defrosted when cleaned. LOL Her furnace & water heater are from the 1980s.

It took me 3 freezers to get one that worked. I had an old Frigidaire from the 70's but then instead of paying for a major repair when it broke, I got a new one. THe new one did not get cold in the first 3 days so away it went and another one came. That one lasted about a month till water started pouring out. So my current one is here. I almost always choose the protection plans now. I know the manufacture warranty covers most of the early stuff but still I get the protection plans just to keep the coverage longer.

It's hard to say 'cos he's on the bottom of the pecking order, so in my flock he's pretty submissive. He's not aggressive towards people at all but he is kinda skittish, as Polish tend to be. Personally I think he's worth more than $5 but I just wanna make room for new blood. :)

Could not be happier!! This incukit kicks ***, it only wavers .3 degrees up and down!! I keep on resetting the min/max on my thermometer /hygrometer thinking I might see it change more than that!! Humidity is holding at 45-47!! Does anybody adjust the temps the farther along they get?
