INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Theres a Coro breeder in KY I had good eggs/chicks from, but lost the young birds due to a hard cold snap and power went out. If you are interested, PM me and I can send you his info. Couple other folks on the thread have hens, and found them also. I have given up for now but they are on my wish list!
I believe I got my Coro eggs from the same KY breeder. Due to a rough ride through the PO, the air cells were completely detached & rolling around like a bubble. I had one female hatch. She laid her 1st egg in January & looks so big & fluffy. She's beautiful. Although I like her, my family wants to sell her b/c she's the only one. They want to make room for the Orps & Bieles we plan to hatch. If they win, I'll make sure to post her here 1st. (Of course I'm in IL, so that makes it more difficult.)

Does anyone have Dorkings?

I do! :D

But you're probably looking for a breeder, right?

I spent some time with the girls this morning after cleaning their coop up a bit. It was pretty cold for me (thank goodness for coveralls!), but it didn't seem like it slowed them down any. My crazy Speckled Sussex sisters, Partridge Plymouth Rocks, Exchequer Leghorn, Lakenvelder, and Ancona all immediately hurried out of the coop when I opened the door, and then they wandered around eating the snow! :th In the coop, the Dorking twins wanted to make a nest beside me in the corner (I guess I was making it just dark enough for them over there?) and kept making their cute little nesting chirpy noises under my arm. Freema, queen of the lap, had to make sure her territory was defended. My Fayoumi, Marama, had to come over and sass me about a few things. Georgie and Mabel (a BC Marans and a Welsummer) made sure every little bit of snow and shavings was off of my boots and coveralls. Wynne the, err, 'different' Easter-egger came over to look at me very closely, as if struggling to process what was different in her home. And miss Violet the Bielefelder, totally unaware of Freema's reign over my lap, climbed up and hid her face right in Freema's bloomers. The look on Freema's face was priceless!

Chicken therapy at its best. Just what I needed to keep me sane until spring... :love

Nothing makes a Sunday better then getting the gator stuck on a manure pile after church guess I ought slow down when going around the barn

Finally picked up some little's today! 20 to be exact!!!!! I'll get them settled down and snap some picks tonight. Rural King and the chicks all looked very healthy, clean, alert, and active. And so it starts lol

@pipdzipdnreadytogo I don't know whether I'd want to breed Dorkings or not, but I find them interesting and might like to have a couple as flock art. I'm up to my elbows in roos right now, so only looking for a couple of pullets/young hens. What do you like/dislike about your Dorkings?

Agreed!!! I just spent time outside giving the girls hot water in their crumbles...you would think they were eating candy! Hmmm I wonder what is candy to a chicken? Mealworms?
