INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Newbie to the forum AND chickies, currently the owner of two RIRs and one Ameracana. ISO silkie girls if anyone in the Clarksville/southern indiana area can help me out :D

First big hatch of the year today! Have salmon faverolles, heritage barred rocks, cuckoo silkies, and partridge silkies! Had two BBS Silkie eggs that were sent as extras that hatched as well. Just a few more eggs left to go before I get the final count! Next week I have white silkie/showgirls and mottled orps! I can't remember what else is in there due next week lol.

That is very exciting! Congrats! I've been in need of a roo for my SF to hatch chicks so I ordered more. Surely I'll get a roo from the bunch but I won't be hatching them until next year...

Welcome! I'm just north of Bloomington and have silkies but half are broody and no eggs from the others. Unless you plan on buying them close to POL (point of lay) silkies are difficult to sex until they are a bit older. I think the earliest I could tell was 4-6 mos old. Some are easier than others though too but they are tricky! ;)

My BLRW are tricky too, at least for me. I can start pulling the roosters at about 5-6 weeks but still find a "hidden" rooster at 16-18 weeks old. My BLRW hens might be starting to lay again. They took the last 2 months off after laying most Jan. I have gotten 2 eggs over the last 4 days from them so I'm hoping the 4 breeders I have pulled pick up the laying fast.

Hello, does anyone in Indiana raise BCM? I am from Chicago and am in search of some BCM pullets.

Glad to have you here! We have several out of state members here...because we are an awesome crew of course! ;)
I have had very happy customers from my BCMs and have a growing list of orders. I hate I've had to say this too many times...but I don't have them separated for breeding yet! I know, I know...but it's now Spring and fellow chicken enthusiasts are anxiously chick/egg hunting! Lol! I just need a bit better weather as I Really hate building in slopping mud and it's even more difficult to get DH to help in it!

I'm going to make one of the biggest most colorful post I've ever made on BYC when they are ready!! Hahaha!

If you can wait that out I'm sure you wouldn't be disappointed!

Back home again in Indiana. After living in another state for 12 years we came home. Anyone else in Madison County?

Morgan here! But welcome! I just love this thread and "family " here. We have a lot of knowledgeable folks, caring and always going that extra mile for one another!

I too left and came back, lived in OH for 6 years and so glad to be back home in Indiana!

Picked up my first of three Boer does I'll be getting in the next couple weeks!
She is 8 months old.

She has such a nice straight back on her looks like a mini little beef steer lol.
