INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

So I got to meet @racinchickins yesterday when I picked up my chicks. Friendly guy and his set up looks so cool! We didn't go in the barn, just saw the outside, impressive.

Now I have a problem, the lady who hatched some eggs in her incubator had just one hatch, a tiny TP. I think the PO scrambled the eggs in that shipment. She bought 2 more chicks to keep him company. I am trying to rehome the two pullet biddies, a buff orpington and an ameraucana. Hubby plans to check with a neighbor. I am checking on here. I am South of Indy.

They are cute and they are bonded as they huddle together apart from the others more. They may have been hatched July 1 or a few days before. I guess they are probably from Rural King.

If you are interested, I would like them picked up soon.

The two CL roos will go to raconchickins, he looked happy about them. We will raise them 2 months. They are agree fire Farm Rees line, a generation or two from the GF farm rooster.

I ended up with one GB, 2 TP and 2 CL which are pullets. Have more hatching eggs and a used incubator on the way soon. Nervous about incubating eggs myself but will give it a try. For now I have 9 chicks in the brooder. Sweet little things. As my chosen breeds are smaller, the two extra pullets look big in comparison too!

Going to try to get a picture today, they were too stressed yesterday after arriving home, we let them rest.

Thanks to those who wished us luck and congratulated us.

Just wanted to throw a couple pics on here from the last few weeks/months.

The stuff has actually grown a ton from these pics in the last 2 weeks. Green beans and cucumbers are well over the top of their trellis now.

Tomatoes are all doing great, few weeks still before any will be ripe. Squash has produced a couple to eat with many more close. Beans and cucumbers are growing like crazy. I'll be harvesting a few cucumbers this evening that are ready.

My peppers are just starting to hit a growth spurt, they were lagging behind but growing well the last week or so.

I love the raised beds for controlling soil moisture. Even with all the rain, and the beds are sitting in a slightly wet part of the yard, I never have standing water in them

It was great to meet you. I hope your new chicks do well.

Also, has anyone had experience with turkey hens fighting with toms and displaying? I'm not sure on Falkor's gender. She/He has more feathers on the noggin than Trogdor, the BBB tom, but occasionally displays and always kicks the crap out of him when he starts something in the yard (even though he's bigger, Falkor is more tenacious). He/She is also more cuddly than Trogdor has been lately (though he still wants lots and lots of attention, pets and treats, he doesn't like being picked up and sitting in my lap as long as he used to). Falkor, however, must usually be evicted from my lap because he/she will spend hours there if left to its own devices.
I don't have a hen fighting with a tom, but I have two midget white hens that apparently can't stand the sight of each other. Its a new fight every day, they won't even let the toms break them up. They display a lot to each other then go at it hammer and tongs. I have a third hen that neither of the other two fight with. It takes most of the morning for them to get it out of their system and separate for the day.

Luckily, @jchny2000 is planning to come take a couple hens off my hands. I plan to give her one half of the warring couple and the neutral hen and keep the other fighter here. That should take care of that.

I have 3 gold laced (with some tolbunt coloring on their crest) hens and the roo is white with very faint gold lacing.

This was a few weeks ago, they are much bigger now. I saw one puff up and strut for the first time yesterday. It was quite comical coming from a little turkey that's not as big as a chicken

Here's a few bird pics:

They look awesome!

Congrats, looks great! Our traditional garden is dead, everything has died out from the rain

Its too funny! I love watching turkeys mature. Midgets are a lot different than typical breeds I have noticed.
