Well my bad luck is holding. Went out to feed around 8pm as I always do and 1st I found my Black mom standing in shock and clearly mulled, and her 3 babies that she yesterday, gone. Then I found a pile of feathers like a chicken had been plucked right in that spot. I got to looking around some more and doing a head count and found a WR some tore up feathers but otherwise fine, and then a trail of my missing Lt. Brahma's feathers leading to the neighbors back door along with the whole in my fence. DH video taped it all and we called the police. Well as for the norm around here, they took a report OVER THE PHONE, and said that they would send AC in the morning. Well I waited around all day yesterday, nothing!!!
DH went over to this deadbeats house right after it happen ( well after we found it ) and seen them moving around in the kitchen windows, but they would not answer the door. They had been warned that their dog had been tearing holes in the fence, and that if she harmed or killed any of my birds there would be H E double hockey sticks to pay.
I have been over there a few times since and get the same result, home but wont answer!! When I shot someone don't forget " I tried to let the LAW handle it " but as for the norm they don't give a hoot!!!!
Just so ya know the black hen is doing great and the Splash hen has let her have 4 babies.Quote: May be time to call town council, town manager or someone to get attention. Certainly not a safe situation for your family! And the poor kid over there, wow.
Am so sorry. EE do tend to be more independent. I finally have a flock that will mostly coop up.Well first predator loss for awhile! My trio of EE's just wouldn't roost at night in any of the coops. They've always slept outside, usually perched on a chair at the walkout basement door. Well I found the rooster decapitated this morning with half it's breast eaten on. DH said our dog was outside last night going nuts and came in all out of breath. The 2 hens were roosted in a tree just near the body. No blood and it was cold so I'm just not sure when it happened but it seemed to have been interrupted so thinking it was due to our dog. I have manually put them in the coops and in the pens, guess I need to start again and maybe now that the girls have seen horror they will appreciate it more!!
Just toooooo adorable, congrats on the hatches!

You will find if they are EEs, they are the most fun, unusual birds you can keep. I adore mine, and no worries of fatal flaws or problems in some of the other blue layer breeds. Good layers, friendly and human social. They will stay in my flock even if I quit keeping some of my other breeds. I love most the difference and variety of colors in the birds as well as the eggs. My roosters stay social too. I've made a point of removing any aggressive/mean birds every season and its paid off.Ok so I looked back in the conversation between the swapper and myself and the member said they weren't blue but came from an Araucana. although I think they all turned blue eventually lol I'm so confused now lol but I'll take em.. Possibly sale them or swap/trade
Agreed! I am finally getting back to having my chocolate eggs in the basket too, thanks to @ellymayRans and another friend from KY. Can't wait to see maran eggs again. I downsized a little too much this spring, and regret it. Now I will be back to white eggs down to chocolate again!I love the diversity in the chicken world! Easter Eggers are awesome as you can get ALL kinds of color variations! I have 4 Easter Eggers, 2 Olive Eggers, 3 Ameraucana, and 2 Rumpless Araucana I LOVE the colorful egg basket! It's so great to see so many people learning about breeds and working to better the lines that are available here in the states. I say High Fives to ALL the "egg heads" out there!![]()
What an adorable face!
O trust me allot of people have tried to do something about them for lots of reasons. Nothing is ever done.Nice flock! Calls are just so precious![]()

Wish I lived closer I'd take em in a heartbeat!Hey guys, it has been a busy Summer and I haven't been on here much. this spring i got a little crazy and ordered a few extra chicks. You all know how that goes. LOL Anyway here are some polish about 6 months old that I have from McMurray Hatchery. I am more than pleasantly surprised at the quality of these birds. As it happens I need to re-home them as my Orps are just too rough and tumble for them. Anyone wanting a ready made flock at a super low price, 3 hens and a roo, drop me a PM. They have had their Merricks vaccine.![]()
