INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Baby number 2 hatched!! I thought it was an egg sticking out from under Marge's chest, so I went in there to push it back under her, and then realized it was fuzzy!! It let me get a quick cell phone pic before tucking away under Mama Margaret again! :love It's a little more buff-colored in person, but was still a bit wet, so who knows how it'll look when dry. :D

You can see Margie keeping a close eye on me, too! No funny business while Margie's around!!

If anyone looking for chicks is in the Shelbyville vicinity, RK there should be a good bet. A very knowledgeable associate has transferred there. She was on BYC until had to give up her flocks and was in charge of poultry at TSC in Greensburg. Then moved over to manage that department at RK in Greensburg, and now has been transferred to Shelbyville. Her name is Patti, and I'll wager that the S'ville RK has one of the best poultry departments around if they didn't move her to something else.
Very good to know, thanks for sharing!

This 70 degree weather is killing me—I'm overdoing it outside. I'm obsessed with obliterating invasive species. Euonymus used to be my main enemy, but I'm on the trail of English Ivy and Kudzu! My girls love to help.

Wow, guess it has been that long! Thank you too, all of you for making our thread awesome, friendly and diverse.

Baby is peep-peep-peeping lots this morning!! Not out of the shell yet (as far as I know) but it's definitely through the shell and active! I can hear Margie clucking to it over the baby monitor, it's so sweet!

URGH, I have to go check on her now!!

Editing to add, Margie's being stingy with the babies. I peeked in at her and got the silent treatment, but over the monitor I can hear her clucking and the baby peeping. Still have no idea if the baby is hatched or not.

I guess I'll just keep sitting on my hands.

Looks like it! I sent pms and posted on the african thread I follow. One fella in Ireland should be able to tell us for sure.
One baby out!!

I went out to check on Marge just now because I kept hearing a LOT of peeping over the baby monitor, and baby popped out from under mama for a second in the back corner of the pen behind her while I was looking in. It was back under Marge before I could get a picture, but it's white with little black flecks, just like daddy Reuben!

Will get pictures as soon as Margie allows for it!!

Aww how precious!

Okay, I'm confused!! This baby just peeked out from under Mama Margaret, and that sure doesn't look like a Silkie to me!

I thought I had only selected Margie's eggs to set, and Reuben is the only rooster in the flock... I guess we'll find out the truth as baby grows!

Quote: Black ripple and lavender both hatch yellowish, but blacks will have a touch of black on the tail. Black pied or chocolate pied hatch with the wild type pattern.
Some examples:

These will all be black pied, like Huey.

Bottom center is a black ripple, upper right is a lavender ripple.

Chocolate pied, lavender ripple. Your baby may look like this one!

Lavender and black ripple

Chocolate pieds and ripples.
