INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

How are Anna and Elsa doing? Have they started laying yet? I've got a new layer Sunday that was in their brood!

How are classes going? They started this week? Or still coming up?

Fun free stuff - I work for a plastic manufacturing company and they gave us some returns today! I managed to snag a small shed that I can convert into a coop. My level of excitement is through the roof. I've been joking that I was going to petition the CEO to give me an 8x12 for science. We recently have been getting inquiries as to whether or not our sheds would work as a coop, so you know, of course I would be willing to test this. For the greater good. But alas, I'm shy. This is 4x6, so its still smaller than where I want to be, BUT significantly larger than what they're currently dealing with.

Woot! Free shed!

The girls are doing well. Both combs are getting redder every day. Optimus Prime has taken a liking to them and readily defends them. Guess we know who the alpha roo is now!

First week of classes has just finished for me. Wearing out much faster than I'd hoped. Course material hasn't plunged into more than I can handle yet, but organic chemistry is going to be a little slice of H-E-Double-Hockeysticks. I'm in Physics too, but part of the problem there is that I've already taken calculus so I'm getting some questions wrong... even though I'm right... ugh.

I checked out the Indiana member's page and seen I wasn't listed on it. How to I get added?

Also do you have any Lavender Muscovy's?
I no longer have Muscovy. Too much time away from home with losing my Mom and predator impact. As far as the member list, I am not sure if we have contributors left? Can anyone comment? I will get you added when I can, honestly its going to be a few weeks. I am handling my mothers estate and its a huge amount of paperwork. Send me a PM (personal message) of what you actually breed and hatch. I will add you myself when I find a moment free.

@Nyla
I think you mentioned that you had a breed of quail that lays blue eggs.
So what do you think is up with mine? I don't get them daily, but about once a week I get a strange egg. I only have 7 female quail, but I have no idea which is laying these blue eggs & why it's so random.

I had the same thing happen. Seems to be a "once in a blue moon" kinda thing. Maybe the egg passed through quickly enough that it didn't get the fancy color, or maybe she ran out of ink. I wonder if it's caused by the same things that cause pullets and older gals to lay odd eggs, or the way eggs get lighter as the laying season progresses.

I have a quail that is laying a purple egg everyday!!!
As for your egg color I have no idea. I bought my Celadon layers from Kansas City quail farms as hatching eggs. They haven't started laying yet but The quail farm said I have a 40% chance of my females being the ones who laying blue eggs. And that they will lay blue eggs everyday. So It's a work in progress. As for my purple layer, I have no idea which one it is but she had laid a purple egg ever day for the past week.
Also got our new 10ft x 12 ft shed to put the quails in! YAY no more stinky house!!
