We live in the Indianapolis suburbs, on the south side. I've been reading this message board for a long time and have learned a lot. I have a small backyard flock: 3 buff orpingtons, 3 black Australorps, and one mottled Java - all pullets. The girls are just about a year old and I am still getting 5 or 6 eggs a day - and did pretty consistently all winter. Our dream is to move to a small farm, just a few acres, where I can expand my poultry and gardening operation - retire and play farmer all day.
I'm from Fort Wayne-but live in the county. If I lived in the city limits, I wouldn't be allowed to keep poultry. Currently, I have about fifteen chickens-Barred Rocks, Buff Orpingtons, Sicilian Buttercups, and a Sicilian Buttercup mix.
Chickenstock sounds like fun-I'm more than willing to help with it!!
