Oh that sounds soooooo good! I love fresh cherries and cherry pie.
As for the icing, a real simple trick is to dip your spreading utensil in warm water, it will be smooth as glass

You're funny! This cake is going to have butter/creamcheese icing, I pray it comes out smooth so I can decorate!!

I am surprised you aren't making chicken cookies

I should . . . hehehe I will have to practice sugar cookies or other roll out cookies . . . My mother always told me sugar cookies could be the hardest and darned if I don't burn most all the ones I try to make from scratch . . . .

Maybe I should try the recipe on the cookie cutter . . . .

hrm . . . . could do a little of both . . . I do have 2 ovens at this house . . . . am gonna miss that when I have to move LOL

Hehe ya, but there is a secret to making hard cookies turn softer! You have to be old like me to know all these tricks! Take your cookies and put them into a airtight container, add a piece of bread, whaallaahh, next day, soft cookies.
But anyway, I was only teasing, you can bring anything you like!

I like baking

I can cook but it isn't nearly as fun as baking. One of the first questions my fiance's father asked him (in jest but still) was if I cooked, this was in our first few weeks of dating so he texted me to ask, I said "eh, good question. . . .I don't know if I can cook. . . I know I can bake . . . . " hehehe

At the time I cooked for myself and I ate what I cooked, and the dogs did (but they aren't really great critics) but I have baked and taken the goodies to work and such and other ppl ate that . . . so I knew that my baking was edible hehehe
