I have a unique looking type of dog that is due. Large boned and great at guarding the property including chickens. Part Newfie, so all they do is gum up things. Don't really chew threw, like chickens, cats, shoes....
Far as chickens, I have Orps, RIR's, Black/Blue Ameraucanas, BC, Speckled Sussex, and Jersey Black Giants. Will they be laying during the summer, who know's. I am sure I can muster up a few hatchable eggs.

Sounds good to me, bring what you can. Our Jersey's laid all summer but that's just us. The dog sounds pretty cool. I don't have dogs and don't really need one but if you want to post pics, feel free, maybe someone will be interested! Where on the SS are you?

I am Beech Grove. Right off South Keystone.
The Giants I have right now, aren't anything much. I have some youger Giants that I like better. All are large fowl.

Wow, you are about 10 minutes from me! Our Jersey's are consistant in laying, they did slack off a bit last October. Our buffs are fantastic layers, laid all winter for us!

My Giants are good layers, their just not going to be big enough. Once these little chicks get bigger I will phase these others out.
My Buffs are about 4 eggs a day outta 7 pullets. Their big, and for their lines lay fairly good. There again I have some chicks that should make things a bit better. My Black Orps are all young and about 67% laying all the time. Most all of my birds are young.

We were thinkg about doing the same with the Jerseys at some point. Ours are at around 10 pounds so size is good and eggs are good, we are just wanting to branch out into bantams a little more. Between our game chickens, the buffs and the Jerseys (14 laying hens) we get about 10-16 eggs a day so I feel pretty blessed!

By far my best layers are my RIR's. Their healthy, guaranteed every day type of layer. Next is my very puny Barred Rock flock they lay nice huge eggs. Their getting phased out for room. I have a whole bunch invested in these little chicks and to do it right I need to keep them all apart. That means room. So I nned to get to alot of coop and pen building in the next few months.

Oh, I have been wanting Barred rocks! I know how you feel as far as space is concerned. Thank God we have 4 acres! It's just finding time to get it all done. Poor DH still needs to get a coop up for all the new chicks we have. Maybe you could bring all the chickens you are wanting to phase out? Or at least some, I don't know how many you have

You posted right after I got off last night and 4 pages already!!
Looks like a PAR--TAY.
I have a mixed flock and my Roo Boy is different from all his girls. So all I can bring would be designer eggs. But I hatched some (with help from Attack Chicken) and they are pretty babies.
Also Kathleen, we have two sets of cornhole boards we can bring as well, if you think we'll need them.
We'll bring stuffed jalapenos for the grill. We'll bring other stuff, too, but I know that one for sure because that's DH's thing. He does them for every gathering. And if its isn't until late July/august, we'll have our own peppers too!
lildinkem...I'm in Beech Grove. But I don't have room for that many, for sure.

Hey all! I'm a northerner, but I plan on coming. I LOVE chicken parties. I gotta warn you all about Ed, tho! TEEEEHEEEEE

I can bring plants, seeds, chickens, ducks, a rescue dog (?), etc. just ask....

I am busy hatching pure Chanteclers, all the rest are mixed: bantam cochins, NNs, EE mixes, OE mixes, and ducks are swedish/runners.
