Whitney-Your dogs sound hilarious. My dog used to run and growl in her sleep, I never once heard her growl awake and she is 8 years old (I rehomed her to a good friend)

mener6896-I would like everyone to start arriving at say after 10am. That way everyone has a chance to set up get settled and enjoy the day. We would like to start serving food no later than 2. I hope that's good for everyone

augustmomx2-I have you down for water and thanks so much!! I know how you feel about chickens. I would do the same thing!

CoopCrazy-I have you down for water and casserole as well. It sounds delicious!!

Just so everyone knows, Kroger has cases of water on sale today, 4 cases for $10.00. I don't know if that's a good price or if all stores are doing it.

As far as utensils, cups and plates go, I think I am just going to go to Sam's and get them there. I can get good ones for really cheap!

There is also Dollar Tree stores for utensils and such. I believe theirs are 48 ct. packs for $1. It's been a while since I've been there though, so it could be smaller packs.

I'll bring some kind of drinks, maybe some lil' hugs for the kiddos?

(Hope someone is planning on bringing some cola-type beverage, or I'll have to get me a liter to suck on!!

I was just reading over the first post, and I saw that you've added a gift exchange? How does that work? Any tips on a 'chicken related' gift?

I'm not sure how many will be coming with me--my family is horrible about letting me know anything.

I'm guessing three. I'll bring some snack-type stuff--probably party mix and some kind of chip and dip. Also can bring sodas--the little grocery in Westport is the cheapest place in the world to buy 2-liter bottles.

Well, Shelley, I had forgotten about that. I am not sure that it will be a good idea given the number of poeple involved and the fact that the economy is rotten. I think I will just raffle some stuff off and if anyone has chicken related items, we can raffle that too or have a silent auction if we have enough items. I think that sounds like the better deal. Oh, and by the way, anyting I raffle, helf goes to the American Cancer Society. I know it's not chicken related but my mom is a 2 time cancer survivor and she is an avid money raiser, so I think since she is helping with this whole event, I can donate a little

Oh, and as far as soda, I know we can come up with something for you; I don't drink coffee so I am a zombie till I have my daily Mountain Dew!

pbirdhaven- that sounds great!! Thank you!

Oh I forgot to mention, anyone wishing to swim, the pool is open!!!
We still have yet to re-stain the deck and it looks a little blah! but we have a now liner and all is well. Please keep in mind, it is 52" deep so if you have children wanting to swim, it will be up to YOU to supervise them as there will be no lifeguard on duty.

I'm fine with that, I just wondered. I lost my mom and an aunt to cancer, and a few friends are fighting it right now. So there definitely needs to be something done.

So sorry to hear that! We are doing the Relay for Life this coming weekend. I will make sure our team says a prayer for you and your family and friends! We are big supporters, without Relay, I don't think my mom would have made it this far!

I think cancer is a great beneficiary of any raffle money gathered ! We have had cancer related losses in my family before and my mother's eldest sister was told she was in remission about a year ago, had her first grandbaby born short after, and just a few weeks ago her drs told her that she was in stage 4 cancer. She is the victim of some odd rare form of cancer, I think there are less than 10 documented cases on it ? So sounds to me like we can have a cancer awareness chickenswap extravaganza !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay . . . .I am going to totally have to get off this 1:00 am forensic files kick . . . . .makes me too tired in the am . . . . . I think I am nocturnal . . . maybe I should hire myself out to guard coops LOL

Whitney, you are too funny. You shall now be known as Coop Guard Extraordinaire!
I'm not trying to get on my soapbox about cancer awareness but yes, cancer has somehow affected all of us. My uncle has leukemia, he is in remission but years ago, right after his youngest daughter was born, he needed a bone marrow transplant, she was the donor. It kills me to think of all the medical advances we have made all in the name of vanity but people are still dieing of cancer
