Ok, I just wanted to give you guys an update. Before you read this, please, I am not looking for praise or anything like that. This is not something I am boastful about or usually even talk about, I just wanted you all to know especially if you had concern. Between yesterday and today, I have been looking for a local charity or food pantry to donate all of the packaged leftovers since there is no way I can eat all this food and I did not want it to go to waste. I am saddened to say that there are no local charities that will pick up and I don't have a vehicle to drive during the day
So what I did is post an ad on craigslist for needy families. I know there are scammers out there but I feel I made the right choices in my decisions. I spoke to the families and told them what I had to offer and that some was packaged food and some was leftover food that had been refridgerated. All 4 families wanted to take what we had to offer with much appreciation. So all of the leftovers from the party that we could not eat or use went to 4 needy families in Indianapolis area, and the items should last them at least several days. So thank you guys for helping me help them by bringing food to the Chickenstock!!
Craigslist... GREAT IDEA. I hadn't thought of that. Thanks for taking the time to find families who needed it. It's a very sad scene when we take garden surplus to the food bank in Franklin. It just gets more and more crowded with needy people. Some are people who used to donate, but they've lost their jobs and so much more.
