More than 6 times. We sometimes walk her, we sometimes just open the door. Being the classic terrier she does find holes to escape from.

we have the invisible fence for our dog, so she's in and out all spring and summer when we have our doors open, then in the fall and winter she gets let out whenever she wants and will "knock" on the door to be let back in.

When the weather is nice, I try to take my Bloodhound for a walk everyday. She still gets let outside at least 6 times a day, usually for 20 minutes to an hour. We keep her on a chain when she's outside (she broken 3 tie-out cables and 1 thin chain) because her nose gets her into trouble - she will wander off if left loose. We're hoping to buy wireless pet fencing this spring, then she can run loose without leaving the property.

My two girls KNOW it takes at least 3 times going out/coming in again to get ME to go out with them, which is their MAIN objective. They go out first about 5:30--back in right away on Tuesday mornings, so they aren't tempted to chase the garbage man!!!--then, the last trip out is usually feeding the horses at night, unless it's early, THEN the last trip out is to "potty" before we all go to bed.

BTW, we live on 5 acres on the edge of a (possibly, but I don't think so) 200 person rural town. LOTS of acreage behind us, too.

We have a yellow lab and an aussie in an apartment right now ..

DH walks them in the am
They are crated while kids are at school
They are walked again as soon as the kids get home.
Then they are fed and walked after DH gets home
Then once again before bed

So ... 4
