Wow, 3 weeks and you haven't noticed any 'dust'. You are lucky! Well maybe I'm just unlucky? I had 2 batches of chicks in my living room, one after another and OH MY did they make a mess! I has them in a huge plastic tote and the litter was changed daily. My living room had layers of chicken dust on everything. It was really bad! I don't think I will have them back in the house again. For now on I am going to put them in the laundry room where its much easier to clean. Also is that cage/coop that you posted going in your kitchen? That thing is HUGE! Your kitchen must be big!

oh didnt see that you only have 4 chicks. I had about 12 the first time and almost 20 the 2nd time. Thats why mine was dirtier...lol

These are Araucana--and they're real fliers! My neighbors had chickens when I was little and they hopped a bit but never really took flight. The first time an Araucana flew over my head I just about had a heart attack.

That's why I was figuring a more vertical cage might be appropriate.

The kitchen/sunroom area is like 16x20, so we have plenty of room for a large cage.
