You could pretty easily convert a large dog house. Cheaper and bigger. That's what I did for my special needs pullets.

ETA: I added a pic of my converted doghouse. The roof isn't on it in thos pic, but it's over 12 sq ft of interior space and has a roost. It now has an attached run of 45 sq ft, which is just fine for 2 small chickens, esp as one has significant mobility issues.
I’m sure you’ve posted them somewhere else, but can I/we see the chickens 🥹

Well, technically I could live in my closet if someone brought me food and water, but I wouldn’t be healthy, I’d be lonely, my muscles wouldn’t get an exercise, and would probably get sick often from not getting fresh air, and it would have to be cleaned often because of excrement that would smell terrible in a small area.

That’s how a chicken in that cage would live.

Of course!!!! I love them so!

The buff laced is Myrtle. She has one eye after suffering an injury that became infected (not that you can tell because of that wild crest). The frizzle is Twiggy. She has a slipped tendon that was unable to be corrected.

Well said.

We are having a crazy heat wave (like so many others). Today was 102°. Tomorrow is supposed to be 108°. I had to bring my special girls in because they are not used to the heat. My big flock is, so they are ok. Just one day inside and I am so grossed out by the smell. They are back out tonight, but they are coming in again tomorrow.

I couldn't imagine a full grown chicken inside 24/7.
:sick

Oooh my…goodness!! They’re melting my heart :love Bless you for taking care of these babies. They are both beautiful. Thanks for sharing!!

Please do not own a chicken if you cannot provide the required outdoor space for them. Chickens absolutely cannot be caged indoors like a hamster. This is animal abuse. Sorry, dont like being so direct but in this case i am very concerned for this chicken.

Ok now i realize we are being trolled.

It will be a very sad, lonely chicken. I suppose you could get chicken diapers and let her roam in the house. But that might get pricey. Do you have a large room? Even with one chicken, it gets smelly. I had a sick chicken kept for a week in the mud room. I cleaned the bedding, but it was smelly anyway. Do you have a garage you could keep a couple of chickens in? Not at all ideal, but at least at night you could keep them there. And you would decrease your poor smell in the room. That rabbit pen does not look suitable at all. Even if you do decide to get just one chicken
