Inexperienced duck keeper checking in with experienced duck keepers

So it is still my fault??? :he

No, I (prefer to) think they have individual tastes... you can't find any one food all humans like... and because you can introduce them to bugs at any age 😉
No it’s definitely our fault haha
When my mom duck sees me with a bowl of peas she gets so excited she flies straight up in the air and back down. Her happy dance
He on the other hand either runs like no not again or he is running ti get out of her way cause she will run anyone over ti get those peas
Thank goodness all their kids took after mom and eat their peas
But give him corn and he is one happy boy

So I need to get peas into the beaks of my ducklings asap...

I started my duckings at 2 weeks once they could handle grit
I would throw some grit and peas in the bath and watch them go to town
They wouldn’t leave a single pea behind
I also kept a bowl of grit in the brooder but wanted them to have it in the tub as well
Not one of my ducks will eat scrambled eggs though
Yet I hear other ducks love them

This entire conversation is my ducks with blueberries. I tried feeding them these at 2 weeks, 2 months, 9 months, a year, they just won't have it. Sometimes they act like I'm throwing them a grenade
Yeah... That is when I grab a nearby hen, plop her down and point to the snack being "refused" by a duck and she makes it disappear.

The hens ADORE having picky neighbors. In fact the hens do housekeeping duty in the duck coop every time they can. They toss the bedding and clean up any food that has gotten thrown around.

I recommend keeping a few hens on staff ... They clean up anything without a word of complaint.

Oh who could compete with hens...they do everything the ducks refuse to do😂
