we recently got some chicks from McMurray, I had been using a regular light bulb in the brooder for heat, then someone told me that we should be using a red infared bulb instead. So I bought one. Thing is that the chicks seem to be acting different. My kids think that the red light is wacking them out. (the chicks) They seem to be not as active but the temp is the same as what I kept them at with the regular bulb. Anyone have any suggestions?

Red is better IMO. The white light will keep them awake more, and can stress them out. The red light allows them to sleep better. I use a red for heat, and a white normal light for the daytime, then shut the white one off at night for them to sleep. Good luck!
