infected eggs ?

i have 2 brahmas . they recently started laying about an egg a day each. one of them has had an infected eye about 2 months ago it was swollen closed. its open now but a little gooey lookin. i douched it with somw saline water. but what i was really wanting to know is if the chicken has an infected eye with the eggs be messed up or infected ?
