Infection unsure of treatment (possible bumblefoot?)

We have a chicken that managed to get a 1/2 inch nail in her foot. We didn't catch it at first but removed the nail and treated. Several days later we were pulling off a scab and draining an infection. Now the injury is healed but the foot remains swollen and is getting worse.

On the swollen section when I have circled there is a hard lump in the swelling. Is there a way to treat this without going through the bottom of the foot? Is it even safe to go in the side? Any advice would be very helpful, we don't want to lose the chicken.

I would treat it like you would yourself. She will more than likely need antibiotics to knock the infection out of her. I dont think that I would lance it. Let her immune system do the work with the help of the antibiotics. Your farm store should have what you will need.
