I agree for the chickens, but it's not that easy with a mixed flock. I've got ducks, pigeons, turkey, quail, chickens and even parrots in the house with me. They all need different things. I know my quail aren't even strong enough for the watering cups. I tried. How are you feeding the chickens? If you spend the cash on a rat proof chicken feeder, a proper treadle feeder, the rats and mice will just leave. Unless you just want a hobby...
Proper feeder with a spring loaded door, installed correctly, train the birds correctly (do not prop it open!), and your bulk feed in metal trash cans or barrels, do a bit of clean up around the coop to make them travel further for cover, and no more rodents.
It is that simple.
The pigeons, I don't know if they all do this or not, will fly to the feeders, get their food, and fly somewhere else to eat it. The chickens also do this. So that has a lot of mess as wellI agree for the chickens, but it's not that easy with a mixed flock. I've got ducks, pigeons, turkey, quail, chickens and even parrots in the house with me. Pole.....how high?Well the quail and pigeons would be candidates for a pole mounted feeder
Licked off again but the cam picked up nothing. Maybe mice are too small to trigger the camera.Game cam, motion detection, would be great.
