That's the problem with the feed stores here........They don't know much about chickens. They do not know that the brooder needs to have some kind of bedding and they just use hardware cloth and I can see some of the chicks' feet, feathers and beak stuck on the cloth. The waterer and feeder aren't raised from the ground and it's very crowded in there so the chicks would fall into the water and can't leave there. I asked them if are they going to do anything about it but they say it's ok.......The chicks were getting hurt. They also don't know the breeds......they just guess for a name if someone asks for the name. I asked what the theoretical Buff Orp/RIR's breed and she said "sunshine chicken". I searched the web on sunshine chickens and it is a chicken recipe. When the day came where we got to the store to by the 2 new brown chicks, I said, "2 sunshine chickens, please," The saleslady said, "What sunshine chicken?!".............. :|......... There isn't much breeds here..........which makes me sad.........the most common here are the broilers or cornish. The theoretical Rhode Island Reds/Buff Orpingtons are only few and are seldomly available(they're imported)..............That's right........No silkies, no Austrolorps, no any other breed except for cornish........It's a sad thing.............
