It's no secret that I'm in love with Wyandottes. Given that I'm considering a Wyandotte Roo, but I know nothing about color genetics. I have 2 silver, 3 gold and one blue laced red. What color roo would be best to get?

I don't really have a preference. I guess I'm really asking a broader questioon. What colors would i get for each combo of roo color with hen color. But that's not a simple answer. I'm wondering if there's a chart for this somewhere?

Ok. Then
Gold rooster plus
Gold hens- gold chicks
Silver hens- golden males, gold females-sexlinks.
Blr hens- blr and black laced red chicks.
Silver rooster plus
Gold hens: golden cockerels and silver pullets
Silver hens: silver chicks
Blr: blue golden and golden cockerels and blr and black laced red pullets
Blr rooster plus
Gold hens- blue laced red and black laced red
Silver hens- blue golden and golden cockerels and blr pullets as well as black laced red pullets.-sexlinks
Blr hens- 50 percent blr, 25 percent black laced red, 25 percent splash laced red

Hopefully that makes sense. Personally, if you can aquire it, I'd recommend the blr rooster. He will throw the most variety.

I can't verify whether the above info is perfect in regard to the outcome on the colors because lacing makes me want to scream into the night. I was shocked to see a Golden-laced Orpington chick hatch out of my visual Silver-laced pair. I do know that splits will be produced. Also crossing Blue-laced Red to Gold-laced results in the loss of the mahagony gene, or at least that is my understanding. So your offspring will not be Blue/Splash/Black-laced Red but instead will be Blue/Splash/Black-laced Gold. I'm not sure over how many generations it takes for the color to lighten, but I do know that it happens.

I've done a little bit with mahogany myself.
When I crossed red duckwing (gold duckwing with mahogany) with gold duckwing the offspring appeared the same as red duckwing.

Can you please extrapolate on that? Splash Red Wyandotte over my 4 GLW of course gave me blue lacing but the 4 cockerels were red and the single pullet orange? ( I haven't heard that term before, just washed out).
The lacing is as good as the dams.
