Need hive mind advice. Sadly, one of my older girls got to a chick the day after it hatched (never had this happen to me with the broody mom present). It caused bad head trauma and has yet to open its eyes. However, it seems happy and eats when hand fed (feeding it egg yolk and green tea mixture). I’m debating if I should stick it out or not. It seems like maybe it’s delaying the inevitable.

I'd lubricate the eyes with antibiotic ointment and give it a couple of days. The will to survive can be strong, and chicks can heal from scalping.
Thank you for this. I have antibiotic on its head…wasn’t sure if I could do eyes or not. I’ll add that to the routine.

That's really bad, if you want to save it apply neosporin on the open wound then apply gauze to cover it. Make sure you trim it to size. Repeat this for 3 or 4 days depending how fast it will heal. This will help keep the infection down and keep it by it self in a sanitary brooder. Make sure it's eating and drinking.

If this is too much you could cull the chick.
