Hi, I had posted in a thread about my rooster got injured but not enough replies there:(

So yesterday my brother banged my rooster in the wall his head got swelled with little scratches he immediately lay down and got sleepy with eyes closed after using icepack and honey mixed water today his swelling is gone and he was opening his eyes and streatching his wings and legs in morning but he is not eating or drinking himself I have to hand feed him but he is not interested in eating at all. He stands sometime his belly seemed filled and he is moving his head like saying 'no' I tried moving his neck and it seems alright. But he is extremely sleepy and dont want to eat or drink is he in shock? What to do? At the moment he is not even opening his eyes:(

It would help to know that this was an 8 week old cockerel injured by your mentally challenged brother. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...-his-head-into-wall-pretty-hard#post_13606023

I just wanted to clarify that with info from your other thread so people won't start criticizing you for beating up your rooster. Since he is showing neurological signs of his injuries, I would suggest that you might want to tube feed him for a few days to give him nutrition, in order to see if he will recover. If a vet is a possibility, they might be able to prescribe some prednisone also, and give you the tube feeding equipment. You can purchase aquarium tubing and KayTee baby bird food from WalMart or a pet store, and a 35 to 60 cc syringe at the feed store to use to tube feed also. If you can't do this, then carefully give him some water with vitamins and electrolytes (SaveAChick is good) with a dropper or syringe--don't give very much at a time to let him swallow. Here is a link with more links to show you how to tube feed: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/805728/go-team-tube-feeding
