This chick was injured by a child. There is a flesh wound on it's belly that I think will be okay. My concern in the left leg. It can't walk on it and uses its wing as a support to maneuver. It doesn't look obviously broken. Could it be dislocated? Not sure how to help this chick. It is now isolated from the rest to try and recover.

The chick was injured by my autistic grandson..........I know the chicks need to be kept away from him and further safety measures have been introduced.

Any suggestions?

Thay leg is broken a chick could easily recover from such a injury as they still have time to grow consult your local poultry vet they should be able to help with the leg

If you don't feel a break, and think it might be dislocated you could try this:
Hold it on its belly in your left hand, sorta like in your pic. Unfold its legs straight back. Grasp the lower-legs firmly but carefully with your right hand, thumb on top. Lower your left hand slowly, and away so it is dangling it by the legs in your right hand (kinda like you would throw a lawn dart). Twist your wrist and raise the chick, so that it tries to move. Its automatic reaction will be to try to lift its body up toward your hand. Sometimes this will cause the legs to reposition themselves.
If it doesn't work with a try or two, then its likely more than just a dislocation.

This was very helpful thank you so much. The legs feel and look symmetric. The reflex is definitely limp on the left side; that leads me to think it could be a severe sprain/strain or tear. She seems content otherwise. Maybe in time she will heal.

This little chick is back with her momma and running around with the rest of them. I can barely tell it was ever injured. Thank you so much.................:wee
