Injured chick advice needed please

Nothing but the heat lamp.

Is the heat lamp close to the wire... to heat the wire? It looks like burns.

I second what ten chicks said, watch for infection. It's hard to keep chicken feet clean. A topical antiseptic at your local feed store may help. Consider wrapping feet (gauze and coban/self adhesive wrap) and checking often. Chicks poop a lot and it gets on their feet. and you don't want poop in open wounds.

You have not really answered the question that myself and others have asked, were your chicks at any point in the cage with the wire bottom with the heat lamp? Those "bubbles" look like burn marks as i have already stated and are at risk for infection due to the fact that chickens walk around all day in their poop.

We are trying to help you diagnose what may be the problem as many issues with chicks/chickens can result in death if not treated immediately, but we need all the information.

Oh sorry I have been out taken care of my animals. The chicks when in one if my brooders that has an all wire bottom. (I keep a thin layer of shreaded paper or straw) And yes I use a heat lamp. It is about 16 ins off the bottom. And the funny this is that I have raised a few batches of chicks though it. I have the chicks that have to bubbles off the wire and away from all the other chicks.

Is there anywhere the wire could have broke or caused sharp area like folding it under? Like the wire broke after multiple batches.

If this is the case my guess is bumble foot. The cause is cuts to the feet. It looks like the world's worst blister. Treatment is to lance it and wrap it with means I said on earlier post. The wrapping is very very important to prevent infection. It helps keep the wound clean because chickens love to poop everywhere...

Is there an area where the heat lamp is pointing directly and is that area really hot?

If this is the case you may want to change the angle of the heat lamp to heat a wall vs the floor or switch to plastic possibly.

Where did they come from? Mass hatchery? friend?

If they came from a mass hatchery this could be a vitamin deficiency in the parents or genetic defect. The more likely cause of foot problems is vitamin deficiency. But if none were born with crooked toes that is unlikely.

In all cases, your problem is probably coming from the floor. Be sure to keep their feet clean or you may have a sad day.

Ok I will keep them ALL for the wire. Do you have pics of that I should bandage them like??? I got them from a friend.
Thanks have all your help.

Explaining it is kinda hard without showing you. It's kinda like a figure 8 wrap between each toe. The pink/green material is Coban/self adhesive wrap. Vetrap is the name brand for self adhesive vet wrap. It is widely available at feed stores/ pet stores/ and drug stores. The pet store / feed store has a stronger hold. Also, the brand "3m Vetrap" has the strongest hold and has about the same cost as the generic. It is available in a wide range of colors and sizes. Vets and other medical professionals use it often. You may need to cut the material into smaller strips because of chick size. The video has an adult chicken.

Materials needed
  • Coban / self adhesive wrap
  • 2x2 Gauze
  • Topical Antibiotic optional (recommended but hard to obtain sometimes "neosporin no pain meds/generic no pain meds")

Change and Check often and be sure to wash their with soap and water feet too. The difference between the 2 videos is the location but both are helpful
Here's helpful videos of how to wrap foot:

2x2 Gauze (sterile is ideal but without surgical sterile gloves won't stay sterile. Try to keep it as clean as possible though. It will reduce your chances of costly greater infection
