I had two hens for about a year. I got each at 3 months old. (Two barred rock) I had plans on introducing three more chickens a couple days ago that I had purchased. While I was out getting the new chickens a dog in with the old chickens. One was dead and the other was extremely startled and laying on her side (I think she injured a wing.)
Well obviously I couldn't throw three new girls in with her, so I removed her from the coup and left the three new girls to have the coup.
My injured girl has been in my bathtub for a few days and I tried introducing the chickens to each other. Seems that none of the new girls like her. It would be bad enough having one dominant of the three new trying to establish pecking order, but it seems all three want to bully her.
Now I have a resident in my bathtub and I need to get her out. Any tips on them getting along.
I realize at night they are dopey... But they already know each other and I fear they'll just be back at it in the morning.
How many days is enough days to consider this bird beyond and soreness from the dog attack also?
