So I had a chicken who got pretty messed up by older ones . It’s wounds are pretty severe but it’s been eating and drinking and moving ok . I was just wondering what you guys thought about it going outside supervised and with other chickens for a little or should I just let it rest.? It just seems so sad and bored 😢

We had an injured chicken. Doctored it and put it in cage in barn. Chicken could hear the other chickens through a window. After about a week, we took cage into the run and let her experience flock time in the cage in the run. Her side was completely split open to the muscle, So we did not want her pecked! After a couple of weeks of this (she had food/water in her cage, of course), we let her back into the run. We kept watch for a couple of days, but all was fine. It is important to note that she was about 13 months old, already laying. By normal pecking order standards, a non-laying young pullet is at the bottom of the pecking order, only slightly above chicks. If all of your flock is young, they are still figuring out pecking order and you’ll have to definitely keep an eye on her.

you could put one friendly chicken of the same age or younger in with her for company
