Injured duck help

Are you going to try and pen him up for a while so he can rest his leg? Plus he’ll eventually have his wings bloody using them to help him get around. @DuckyDonna what was that lineament you got at TSC? @DuckyBabies do you have any DMSO in gel?
I do not have any DMSO. I plan on putting him up in the coop tonight, and probably keeping him in the coop all day tomorrow. My other drake will lose his mind, he is like the most protective big brother, hasn’t left his side today. I want to give him a good soak and some water therapy before putting him up tonight.

I had a young duck girl limping this spring and immediately thought bumblefoot and a hour ride to the vet.

On the day of her vet appointment, she was just fine, no sores on her feet, no swelling. Maybe she just kinda sprained or over exerted her leg.

You’re smart to keep a good look though, and what the others have mentioned about calcium and niacin is valuable information. Good luck!

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and well wishes! When I got up this morning, Dave was actually standing in the coop! He will still hold the leg up a little, but he was walking on it this morning. I let him go to the pool and he got in for about 20 minutes and then I took him back to the coop so he can rest today. It seems as if he is on the mend!
