Hey all! Thanks in advance for any help you can offer for this one!

Our female Khaki Campbell, Scoot, was attacked by our puppy a week and a half ago - preventative measures have been taken to keep it from happening again!
Amazingly, Scoot made it through, despite having a puncture wound on the back of her head and a pretty bad one on the side. She is slowly regaining her strength, is eating and drinking and able to flap her wings and preen after her time in the pool. However, her neck keeps doing this weird motion where it drifts to the side and then back to normal... almost like a sprinkler head, if that makes sense? Also, if she tries to swim in the pool she kind of just goes in a circle.
Does anyone know if this is still trauma to her neck and will get better as her wounds heel or is this a sign of neurological damage? I just want to make sure I'm doing everything I can for her!!

So sorry about your KC how bad was the wound in her head? do you have a video of what she is doing?

Could be neurological damage but maybe a video will help determine.

I will try to get one when I go home for lunch later! The head wound was just a small puncture in the back and a small puncture/cut on the side - I'll get pics of those as well if she lets me!

Unfortunately a vet isn't an option right now. Finding one who is familiar with poultry or fowl around here is incredibly difficult and we would rather not pay for guesswork :-/

I think right now it is wait and see. If this is neurological and she isn't suffering she can just go on with her life. You might want to add some good vitamins to her diet. Just for a boost. I'd makes sure she can get out of and into the pool with out any problems and that she is safe from predators her response probably isn't going to be so good. But hopefully over time and TLC she'll get mush better or completely better.

Please keep us updated on her.

How is the drake with her?
