Hi ya'll! I noticed my approximately 10 week old duck limping a few hours ago. Can anyone tell me about this injury.

Looks like he got it snagged on something, wash it real good with soap and water or saline wash then put some triple antibiotic ointment or something similar

And if you'll share you set up we maybe to help you prevent it from happening again

:welcome

Thanks for the replies. My setup is simple. The ducks are in a 10x20 fenced in section of the yard. As you can see in the pic they have a "house" we put them in at night. AND I just lowered the hinged front so ya'll can see in. They are NOT left unattended with the front down! I think he stepped on a make-shifted watering bowl made from an old food container. I included a second pic showing the ducks drinking from it. Haven't seen any blood or broken skin. I rinsed the foot with hydrogen peroxide. But he's still limping :(

No swelling? maybe it will just take a few days to recover. They sure are pretty. I like your ramp reminds me of an escalator.

You did check the bottom of the foot for any sigh if injury or bumble foot. that can cause limping too.

A visit to the vet yesterday confirmed a broken toe. The X-ray was so clear! So the vet taped it. The vet suggested I separate my duck from the rest in order for him to limit his walking. Thats been a challenge! But my duck is getting around well...eating, drinking, & pooping like normal! He gets rechecked on Friday.
