Injured Eyelid - torn?

Hi all, I have a bantam OEG, her eye looked a little odd this morning, and by the afternoon was definitely not right. Still open, but just looking different to her other eye. We waited till night time, picked her off the perch, and I washed her eye with a weak salt / water solution. I tired to loosen some of the black stuff, but then wasn't sure what was going on with her eyelid and I didn't want to damage it further.

After reading some posts here, my plan is to get some chlorsig in the morning, I only know of the drops? and put some drops in her eye first thing.

I'm in Australia - can't seem to find Terramycin or Neosporin.

I did call the vet, the chicken specialist isn't in for a few weeks, otherwise there is the emergency vet in Melbourne.

Any other suggestions for treatment at home?

Two pics of the damaged eyelid, and one of her good eye.

thanks,
Natalie

Good Eye

I would definitely irrigate the eye 2-3 times a day. You can usually get a saline eye wash at most stores, but you would know best where to find that.

It does look like some kind of injury. Could have been caught on fencing or pecked.
I don't see any obvious pus but there is some swelling so there may be some inside there, so I'd be inclined to just flush it out well daily, remove any pus if you see any, and maybe use some moisturizing eye drops, in case the injury is causing dryness. The Chlorsig (I looked it up, I'm not familiar with it and have never used it) says it can have some bad side effects, it's banned for birds in the US unless they are considered pets. It can have bone marrow suppression effects, anemia and can be bad for kidneys and liver. That may be more for the oral or injected form, but something to be aware of. I think I would do saline flushes a few times a day first, if you have no improvement or things seem to be getting worse, then I'd try the eye drops, if that's what you have. I wouldn't personally use them more than 5 days max. A couple of links below:

Thanks for the advice...

Looking a bit better today.
I can't catch her during the day, still working on trust for a pat and I don't want to stress her out. Still looks a little bit swollen around the eye. I will flush again tonight (grab her off the perch)
