I've got a rooster who injured their foot. They got it tangled in some fencing. He refuses to Walk on it, or move really his poop goes between being watery and normal consistency but it's green and yellow. He's also pooping on himself and getting it stuck in his butt fluff.
First we let him stay in the coop, he got to hot day one so we moved him into a smaller pen in my husbands building, which is cooler. He stayed there for a couple days, during which time I wrapped his foot with some gauze with some medicated chicken sprayed on it. He seems like his foot is getting better, slowly.
We started to put him in the coop in the evening when it's cooler because the smaller pen has a slick floor and he's been getting more frequent baths since he keeps pooping in his feathers, I figured hed want a dust bathe.
We have 2 other rooster and 9 hens. He's our best rooster, id hate to loose him. Is there anything I can do? Should I remove him from the pen entirely? I don't really have anywhere else besides the smaller pen for now.
