hmmm, okay... how about coat it really good with petroleum jelly 24/7 and see if it softens up. A scab should soften up... but no clue on how long that takes.Seems so hard and pointy.

You're doing a good job. Sometimes it's hard to know when to cull and when to keep on trying things for our chickens. I tend to keep on trying to help them as long as they have the will to live.
