Injured three day old chick

Seems so hard and pointy.

yes I know. Not one as far as a farm vet in Simpson co.
hmmm, okay... how about coat it really good with petroleum jelly 24/7 and see if it softens up. A scab should soften up... but no clue on how long that takes.
You're doing a good job. Sometimes it's hard to know when to cull and when to keep on trying things for our chickens. I tend to keep on trying to help them as long as they have the will to live. :hugs

I have Neosporin do you think that will work?

I do know below the hard pointy thing that I’m assuming is a scab or a bone the lower part of the leg trembles when it’s cold. So I feel the movement of the Trimble but I just don’t know if that’s because it’s connected to it a birthday I don’t know I’m searching for a positive I guess

I don't think that's the bone. I mean if you or I had our femur sticking out halfway from our knee, we wouldn't have survived. I would wait.

She's able to bring her leg up in the video.

Oh God I hope that's not the bone.

Here's the anatomy Of A chicken LeG.

Ugh, you're in Colorado...wish I was closer 😢
You think it is or isn’t? I’m in Mississippi. She just has her leg kicked out to the side and the toe are limber but she wont open up toes on its own.

It is possible to survive with a bone sticking out for a few days. Very dangerous, high risk of infection, and painful, but possible.

And i also wish I was closer to help to.

Mississippi is far too. I'm in PA. Grrr...

Is there any way someone could hold the chick for you so you could take some in focus pictures; after looking at anatomy pictures I just don't see how that could be bone.

Me too!! Do I soak it in epson salt? Or any kind of soak? Or Neosporin? Do I need to confine it in a wrap? So many things I don’t know?
