I lost 2 hens and one got a large area of her back torn off from a coon attack. I brought the wounded one in the house. She went back out to the coop today (in a crate for the first few days).
Here's the picture of it 1 week after the attack and then another pic of it 3 and 1/2 weeks after the attack. I'm very happy with the healing.
I washed it with peroxide initially, then every couple days I cleansed it with betadine tea (although for only a week). I kept neosporin ointment on it for a week. Then I left it to do its thing.
I think chickens are extremely resilient. I'm thinking she may have healed just as well on her own! I did give her Baytril for the first week.
