INSANE FLEAS!!!!!!!! *AKA: STUPIDEST CREATURES ON THE PLANET!*

We have had fleas bad in our area this year, so far we have tried:
Frontline (for dogs and the cats)
flea collars
DE (yard)
Citrus Carpet powder
DE On the animals themselves
Flea dip from Petsmart
Carpet Spray
Citrus oil on the pets
Cedarwood Oil on the pets
Like 4 diff kinds of flea shampoos
Washing the bedding like every day
Vacuuming every day

NOTHING IS WORKING!!!!! We are getting bit like crazy my back is COVERED IN BITES from sitting on my BED!!!!!!!!!!
Tonight I read fleas hate lavender, so we got lav baby shampoo for the dogs, gave them a bath, and sprayed carpets/our beds/their beds with the glade lav night time stuff (the new stuff)

ANY SUGGESTIONS???????? Thanks!

You should probably try one of the topical treatments other than Frontline. A lot of people from a lot of different areas are reporting that fleas are becoming resistant to it, when it used to work well for them. I have heard the same thing about some other topicals too: that if you use the same one continually you can get fleas that are resistant to it.

Most people I know are switching to Comfortis, although some dogs can have adverse reactions to it. I use Advantage, because my collie is very sensitive to flea treatments, but I do not live in a highly flea prone area to start with.

Topical treatments are the way to go. You read all kinds of glowing reviews about using DE and other things that you have tried, but I have never known anyone personally who has had luck budging a real infestation with those methods. They probably work quite well as preventatives, though.

Use this and it will solve your flea problems,,, Mix in a sprayer and treat areas, carpets, bedding etc.. will have to do followups to break cycle..

I then give to the dog dependent on weight under 25lb 1 capfull on bread. 25 - 50llb 2 capfull and 100 3 capfull.

This is the same product found in comfortis.. They will bite the dog and die quickly, when you see smaller ones again that is a new hatch. I will then spray the dog with the same as used on floor..


I also use it on the cats and the chickens.

They are terrible where I am too, head and shoulders shampoo kills them instantly, but it doesn't repel them

I am having the same problem. I read somewhere that sprinkling salt on the floor/carpet helps. Its not a miracle worker but it sure cuts down on the numbers.

Yea, our vet is having us be careful with non-name brands (besides frontline, anvantage...) Because one of our dogs has a heart problem, and the other has seziures so we have to be REALLY CAREFUL.
Yea, the DE didn't work too well... thanks for the info! our vet was saying he thought they were becoming immune to it too

My animals have been using it for the last 5 years, all still among the living and no fleas. They may get treated now twice a year where the other products we were having to treat monthly and we still had a problem.. with fleas sucking the life out of them. As I said it the same ingredient found in comfortis, suspended in propylene glycol (same kind as in cough syrup not the antifreeze which is ethylene glycol).

This cost about $30 per year where the vet meds cost about $100+, This cost is also divided among 8 dogs, 4 cats and spraying 60 chickens and the coop and run.

If you have a breed that would be sensitive to the combinations of Comfortis while on Heartworm Meds.. Then it may not be your best option. All of mine receive Ivermectin and Valbazen for internal parasites. With no issues combining, but they are not any of the breeds that are of concern.

You asked for a solution, this has been mine.

Are you sure these are fleas and not bedbugs? Frontline Plus works beautifully - I've used it for years. Capture a few and take them to your vet for ID. Might also be mosquitos.
