Insect?? bite in Texas

Hi,

I have felt your pain....

A. Here is a website that might help
http://www.utahmountainbiking.com/firstaid/bugbite.htm

I think it is a bee sting and the stinger is the black thing you see - this website gives suggestions.

B. I grew up on a tobacco farm (even tho I live in a rural area outside of Dallas now) and we always used wet tobacco on stings. I was sting by a scorpion a few years ago and man it stop the pain immediately - I don't smoke anymore (can't afford them ) so a pack of cig will probably cost the same as topical ointment. But it might be worth a try.

Hope this helps,

Luckily, it seems to be doing much better today. I can wiggle my toes and the swelling is down by about half.

I will take more benadryl this morning and put more cortisone cream on it, and hopefully it will be back to normal soon.

Thanks for the well wishes and advice!

This may sound insane but I read it on the computer and I have tried it several times and it has worked! If it is sting put a penny on it for 15min ( I usually put a bandaid on it to keep it on). Somehow the penny counteracts with the sting and within 15min there will be no swelling at all.

Huh, sounds like it may be worth trying!!

Easy things like that are always worth a try. I read once that if you get leg cramps at night, you should put a bar of soap under your sheets. Figured it wouldn't hurt to try, so I did it. Never got a leg cramp since.
