@perchie.girl I appreciate your confidence in me, but I think you might have misread my posts #4 & #8. In the first one, I opined the squiggly, ropy thing was chalazae. And then in #8, I mentioned that salpingitis is a waxy substance that normally occurs in the poop, not the egg.

My brain often gets stuff backwards. Maybe you remembered these posts as being swapped. The brain plays tricks on us, especially as it ages. My brain is no doubt full of chalazae and salpingitis.

@azygous - just to make sure I’m clear on this, you believe that it is not an infection, correct? ;)

Not an infection. This egg is a solitary event. I wouldn't eat it, either, although it's probably harmless.

When I was a kid, I would do my best to remove the chalazae from the raw egg I was getting ready to make into a morning milk shake because it was so yucky and I was very very picky about food, being a skinny runt of ten. Those chalazae would be of varying sizes, and I was certain they were evil.

Thank you so much for your clarification!! I agree, I don't like those stringy white things either, and big and fat - YUCK!

Appreciate all your input!!

Doesn't look like the chalazae to me, unless it's a major membrane malfunction, and that yolk is funky.
Looks like it could be infection but could be tissue too.
Would have been good to pull that blob out of there and cut it in half for further inspection.
Lash eggs(salpingitis) aren't usually found in poop, tho it's possible, but come out the reproductive tract and are found in the nest.
Breaking eggs one at time in a separate dish before adding to pan or recipe would be good to do. If your egg recipients can handle the oddities, have them do that. I have mine put and funkies, shell and all, in a tupperware and save in the fridge so I can check it out.

I still had it in the trash, dug it out and this is all that was left other than the yolk which was completely destroyed and absorbed into a paper towel. One picture is with flash the other without. Ignore the yolk on the plate, I used a breakfast plate from this morning.

Good Job!!

I stand by this.....

Doesn't really look like membrane.
Do you know which bird?
Age and how long laying?(I might have missed that, sorry)
Would be good to know who, but realize it's not often possible.
