Inspiring Story: Teacher, Transplant Recipient, and Chicken Enthusiast

OH my that is scary sounding. I haven't had my sugar that high that I know of, but I know I've been as high as 485. Still saying prayers.

Luke, I'm sure you have thought of this, but I need to bring it up....
Have you gotten a second opinion on this? Maybe if you are well enough for the trip to NY, think about that maybe...

Thanks all.

My liver numbers are actually looking great. I don't think I've given you number updates in a while. Several are below "the mark" and several are above, but much lower than they've been in months.

The new problem is the prednisone. I am on such a high dose that it is driving my blood sugar levels wild. I am in the hospital now working with endocrine docs to come up with a regimen that will, first, find the right type of insulin, and then be prudent about my eating habits.

So, while I'm not certain that I'd get the doctors full support on a trip to New York.

I've just gotta do it... Love is involved.

Oh, Long Island, how near/far is that from Rochester?

Hi Luke,

Hope you had a good weekend with your flock. It was warm here, so I put up the Christmas lights on the porch roof. My four-year old offered to climb up the ladder and walk on the roof for me... always trying to be helpful. One bad thing about putting up the lights in warm weather, the ladder sinks in the ground. I lost my balance as the ladder sunk and almost fell head-first onto the concrete porch floor. Had a conversation with my 9 year old about who to call if mom needs help... She said "Dad" and I said no, he's at work... then she said "911?" Luckily, I didn't fall and the 4 year old didn't make it the whole way up the ladder while I was untangling a strand of lights...
