Well congratulations on the new job. I don't have the stomach for kindergardeners, so KUDOS to YOU. The whole garden idea is phenomenal. I was just speaking with one of my transplant surgeons about the chickens and she mentioned her daughter's daycare had this whole "sustainable living" theme. So the garden AND chickens (and even a goat) were all a part of that.

Good stuff. Fight the good fight.

I don't have the stomach for middle-schoolers... I can't wait. We are going to plant bulbs this week, just to get the kids used to being outside and getting muddy. They are each going to "adopt" a tree to watch throughout the year and we are going to design a raised bed garden. I told the other teacher that we were going to have to fence in the garden and she said that she didn't think there was anything that would eat the garden... the school is surrounded by woods...​

In important news: I bought 2 young OEG pullets yesterday, one a self-blue, the other....I dunno, MAYBE a Red-Pyle.

In medical news: My numbers seem to be stable. My docs said we were going to stick the course on my Prograf and Prednisone (50mg).
I have to take insulin because the pred has been shooting my glucose through the roof. I had a mental breakdown in the psychiatrists office. I know that taking the shots and prickin my fingers is nothing new. People everywhere do it all the time. But...It's ....upset me quite a bit and I sat in tears.

In other news. Today WILL be a good day. I have a Youth Group of 12-15 volunteers who are going to rake and plant and pull and trim all around my yard. My co-workers are also starting a fundraiser to help with medical bills. It'll be done by way of Wells Fargo but you can use Paypal as well. If you're interested just ask. Details to come.

Now. Im going to see how my flock is taking to my new girls.

Sunday: I had a friend drive nearly TWO hours to the Wicked Chicken Auction in Clayton, NC...and we didn't find a thing I wanted. I was so defeated. I whipped out my iPhone, went to craigslist and BAM! Just like that saw an ad, just posted, in Clayton, NC. We stopped and got an Ameracauna bantam pullet, black modern game pullet, and a White Crested Polish hen.

It was GREAT!

I'm at the hospital getting testing done. Let's hope they let me get some to the flock.

When you get back from the hospital, we need pictures! You are going to have quite the diverse flock...

I survived the first day of teaching! Tomorrow we plant bulbs for the spring (getting the students used to digging in dirt). I had a fun day, the students are great and my co-teacher is great too.
