Inspiring Story: Teacher, Transplant Recipient, and Chicken Enthusiast

On a good note, I am so happy to have so many people encourage me this go-'round. The last time my health suffered I was considered chronically depressed. So thank God for strength.

I was a bit moody during Treatment #5. A lot of things seemed off. Particularly the shooting pains up and down my limbs. The docs said that thiis, too, was abnormal, but given all of the medications and treatments they've thrown me on, they wanted me admitted tonight. I just couldnt do it.

So tomorrow Ill sit by the window looking out at my bird feeder, sipping tea, and eating pumpkin bread. I will go out and fuss around with my flock and my puppy and then pack an overnight bag.

This one will likely have me in through Thanksgiving (Which is cool, sadly I had no plans).

Gotta keep truckin....

Hi Luke,

Can I join you for some tea, pumpkin bread and quiet time? It seems kindergartners are not that quiet! I can't make it tomorrow, taking the students on a field trip to a horse stable to meet some horses and watch the farrier - they are sooo excited!

Sorry you didn't have any plans for Thanksgiving... I would invite you over... I'm sure you will keep the nurses on their toes. May you be a better patient than Em...

Hi Luke,

Are you prepared for your next treatment? How is your flock getting along with each other? Are they playing nice and sharing snacks?

My kids (I love being able to say that...) had a great time on the field trip. The farrier shoed and trimmed 5 horses, they got to groom a horse, feed lots of carrots, see the difference between a halter and a bridle and pet a cat... Oh and watch the farrier struggle with a horse that hadn't been trimmed in a long time (new to this stable). The horse didn't like being cross-tied, held by the owner or having it's hooves trimmed. It almost backed up into the class (we moved the kids to the other end of the barn). Oh, and the farrier brought a used horseshoe for each kid.

Love the babies! Thanks for sharing. I guess you're killing time waiting for....
Try to keep a chin up, lots of happy thoughts to ya.
And thanks to all tomorrow. Roberta

Thanks for sharing your flock.

I'm in love with Grill, he's gorgeous. How about Emma and Amelia for your unnamed girls? For the one that is always picking fights - Travis or Zach... or Napoleon...

I don't see any Silkies in that bunch.... I sometimes wish that I shipped, but the way USPS has been lately, I refuse to start.
Maybe I can chicken train some down to you! Any volunteers? I am in NY, and will be at the Poultry Congress show in Mass. in January, if there is anyone planning an east coast trip...
