Inspiring Story: Teacher, Transplant Recipient, and Chicken Enthusiast

Luke, this bunch of chicks was born Oct 27, there's a black one with some white on his feet, still too early to decide, they have been inside 'cause it's cold here. They are feathering out well, as long as it's warm by you, they should do OK.
I can meet your friend by the city so he doesn't have to go too far out of his way.
Let me know, can send pics tonite.

You're so great. I'll let you know dates. It was supposed to be on the 9th but I've made plans to fly to NYC for that date.
I'll figure iit out. I have a long IV session today. Drive an hour away, treatment for 7-8 hours, drive an hour home. (Well, I RODE home. I had planned to be drive 'cause I'm so stubborn and hate to ask for things.

It would have been a horrendous ride back. Thank God for volunteers. And patient people. I've got a lot to learn.

Check the newspaper article folks.

Hi Luke,

Good to hear from you - glad that IV session is behind you. This week is crystals and snowflakes in kindergarten! We are growing alum, borax, sugar and salt crystals and learning some of the different shapes of snowflakes (diamond dust, stellar dendrite, sectored plate, columns, etc...). It even snowed during school so we could review what we learned about snowflake formation. Oh and some math and communication arts thrown into the day too!

UPDATE!

Argh. I was on the transplant floor, feeling good, feeling great. Then I dozed off, and all of a sudden I was swamped by nurses wearing different colored scrubs. They were polite but they were moving like they were on a mission. I thought I was about to meet my maker or something.

So we're dashing around corners, they've got me hooked up to all sorts of machines, and they're asking alll types of questions. I was too sleepy to answer.

We enter ICU. Why? Maybe they thought I was about to die. My blood sugar levels have been beyond high (and dont you start thinking it's because I've been drinking Pepsi's and eating Fruit ROll Ups- I haven't) But apparently when your sugars are about 600...things could go awry.

I'll meet the transplant team at some point. And learn more about this visit.
Until then...
Peace & Love and sighs
