Is it like a melamine board?

Not exactly - melamine has a little bit of texture, this is really smooth. The texture feels smooth like glass.

I'll post some pictures later today of how it cleans up - I'm curious how it will do.​

Looks great, you won't regret doing it.

Those who use newspaper do you have this problem. I use to use newspaper but when the chickens flapped their wings it caused it to rise and it freaked the chickens out. I never knew newspaper was on the list of chicken predators but apparently it is as it completely freaks mine out.

I bought a big roll of butcher paper which is pretty cheap and just put a piece of tape at each end to steady it

That's a good idea. On mine, I think I could use a binder clip or something to hold the paper down.

Will post more pictures later today... Almost have the nest boxes and brooder box done. Hooray!

when using the newspaper I lightly
((very little - sprinkle wood chips & some sweet PDZ from Agyway))

(you put in horse stalls to cut the amonia smell) so I am sure other stores have their own brand!)

if I do this by the 3rd day I just shake it over the compost pile
(it is all natural)

In the coop itself I have 2 inches of sand & I mix DE, PDZ & wood chips all winter by April it is all rich compost (I just through in garden)

In April all breeding chickens go in separate tracktors!
so I clean out coop!

My feed store has it but I don't know if i should use granular or powder ??
