FWIW I have an elevated coop, foundation base is separated from the coop walls by metal drip edge 8" wide making it difficult for mice to get a purchase to gain entry. I keep both feed and water inside, hung from ceiling, available 24 hours a day.
So far I have not had mice (or any other critter) take up residence nor have I had any predator manage to get inside (I have had raccoons hanging off the HC on occasion).
The nature of a tractor is such that possibility of mice entering is higher than in a coop (some will argue). I built my coop from the get go to minimize possible pest intrusions and so far it has worked.
