This was a new one for me...lol. Found an egg in the run today and went to the cameras to see who did it. What I found was pretty funny. Keep an eye on the New Hampshire Red...the egg drops off after she goes at the Speckled Sussex.

Egg was good and is in the fridge!

Have heard of it, have never seen it......youtube not playing for me now(screwybrowser).
Will have to come back later and watch.

ETA: hahaha! you can clearly see it stuck to her butt at 0:31

Oh, I'm so glad someone else has a hen like that!

I have a Black Cochin who has very fine butt feathers, and she "wears" her egg on her butt until it drops off somewhere. Sometimes she'll wear it hanging from her butt feathers for quite a while, and if I'm lucky, I'll spot it before it gets wrecked.

It's such a regular feature of hers, I tried to find a hair product to spray on her butt to keep the eggs from sticking. No luck with that.

It's pretty darned funny, though.

I love the video and their reaction!

That happens here quite often, particularly with the Pekins [bantam Cochins]. I often find eggs on the coop floor from being stuck when exiting the nest box, at the bottom of the ramp in the run and on one occasion, had to bail Blondie up in the back garden, scratching around with her egg still nicely nestled and intact in her feathers

I have heard some people clip the butt feathers to avoid poop on eggs and that problem
