Integrating a shy nervous broody and her 3 chicks: advice wanted

Have you tried free ranging with only one of the three hens? Three hens ganging up on one hen is probably pretty scary and that's why she's running. I would let mom and chicks out with the lowest hen of the three and see how it goes. If that one is by itself with no back-up it shouldn't be as aggressive.

That is a great idea! Thank you! My speckled Sussex is typically the most mellow and laid back around other hens. I will try letting just her interact with momma and babies for the next couple free range meetings and see how things go :thumbsup
