hm...i would try a good squirt on water and apple cider vinegar mixed together to the face when he/she is bullying.I was told a leghorn. I heard it trying to crow yesterday but read on here that pullets can sometimes crow! It is aggressive to the other girls, pushes them around, when they come out of coop..this one pushes the others back in!
ok then. it will be interesting to see if he is a she or she is a he.My guess would be rooster, that's awful red at 8 weeks. How does it's comb compare to the others.
beautiful chickens! have lots of fun with them!We put the 2 very docile salmon faverolles in with the Polish and there was only minimal squabbling - all initiated by this little roadrunner look alike!
Thanks for all of the thoughtful replies. The coop is being delivered today! All our ladies will go in together. We do have a couple of contingency plans if there's bullying later on (mainly other folks who don't mind having another chicken). Just to clarify, when not free ranging, they'll have access to 64 square feet of space not counting the attached egg box. The 4x4 is the indoor roosting area (though they will probably stay in longer during the winter).
We gave them a bit of free range time and the Polish crested snuggled right up to the most dominant (silver laced Wyandotte).
The faverolles are inseparable:
My favorite is Edina, the speckled Sussex, curious without being flighty or domineering.
Thanks again and I'm excited to see how all this chicken keeping goes!
